Washington - At least one person has been killed and five injured in a shooting at a high-rise office building in Orlando, Florida, the city's fire department said Friday. The 16-storey building in downtown Orlando was in lock down, ambulances were on scene and police were searching the high-rise floor-by-floor for more victims.
Local media in Florida reported at least two dead and six people injured.
The suspected shooter, Jason Rodriguez, was still on the loose, but it was not known if he was still in the building. Authorities said he was a former employee of a company in the building.
"We have gotta find the guy," Seargent Barbara Jones, a spokeswoman for the police, told local broadcasters. Much of the surrounding area had been shut down to traffic.
The incident comes just one day after a shooting at an Army base of Fort Hood, Texas. An Army psychiatrist killed 13 people and injured 30 at the base.
