Sarajevo - A court in Banja Luka ruled as unfounded the demands of Bosnia's Islamic Community that the city pay 64.7 million convertible marks (48 million dollars) as compensation for mosques destroyed during the 1992-95 Bosnia war, local media reported Friday. The Islamic Community demanded damages for the 16 mosques in Banja Luka destroyed during the war. Banja Luka is the largest city in the Serb Republic, a Serb entity in Bosnia.

In February Banja Luka's Municipal Court ruled that the city had to pay damages to the Islamic Community for the mosques destroyed in the war, but the District Court dismissed the ruling as "unfounded."

The Islamic Community can now appeal to the Supreme Court. drs kp ay ds
