London - Big-spending Manchester City climbed to fourth in the English Premier League on Sunday despite being held to a goalless draw at Birmingham City. City moved above Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur into fourth, eight points behind leaders Chelsea, but were fortunate to snatch a point after Birmingham missed a penalty.
Shay Given was the hero for City in the second half as he saved a penalty from James McFadden after a handball by Nigel de Jong.
Cristian Benitez also hit the post for Birmingham while City's best chance fell to Craig Bellamy but his shot was well blocked by the Birmingham defence.
Barry Ferguson was sent off for Birmingham for a second yellow card late on but the home side held on to move up three places to 14th.
