Rio de Janeiro - Brazilian driver Bruno Senna - the nephew of motorsport icon Ayrton Senna - confirmed Friday on Twitter that he has agreed to drive in Formula 1 next year, on the new team Campos Racing. "I would like to thank everyone for the support! After many weeks of work and talks, we have finally managed to sort things out. I am very happy and I wish to share that joy with you," Senna said in a "tweet" addressed to his Brazilian fans.
"Now it's time to work even harder to get to next season with the best preparation," he said.
According to news reports, the deal between Senna and the Spanish team led by Adrian Campos was finalized Sunday night but is set to be announced after the weekend Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that ends the 2009 season.
Senna's most likely team-mate is veteran Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa, according to news reports.
Senna, 26, started out as a child in karting. However, he turned away from the tracks when his uncle was killed during the San Marino Grand Prix on May 1, 1994.
He only returned to motorsport in 2004, in Britain's Formula 3 and in GP2.
Senna came close to making his Formula 1 debut this year with Brawn GP, but the team that eventually won the championship with Jenson Button preferred the veteran Rubens Barrichello.
