Paris - The French government wants an "immediate official response" from Iran on the proposal by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to ship its uranium abroad for enrichment, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said Friday. Bernard Valero told journalists in Paris that the Iranian reply had only been transmitted "orally to the IAEA." He also said that authorities in Tehran wanted changes to the agreement but they did not say what they wanted changed. On Thursday, Iran said that it wanted amendments to the proposal designed to reduce Iran's enriched uranium stock. The United States, Russia and France already told the IAEA that they approved of the four-country deal drafted by the Vienna-based organization, under which Iran would ship enriched uranium to Russia and France for further processing into fuel for a medical-purpose reactor in Tehran.
