Russian president Medvedev congratulates Merkel

Moscow - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated German Chancellor Angela Merkel Wednesday on her re-election, at the same time promising to be attend the upcoming 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Medvedev said he had accepted Merkel's invitation and would go to Berlin on November 9 for the occasion. In a message to Merkel, the Kremlin leader stressed that Russia hoped to continue its strategic partnership with Germany. He also praised the "confidential regular dialogue" which he enjoyed with Merkel.
