Gelsenkirchen, Germany - Schalke coach Felix Magath insisted Tuesday that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer would not be sold by the club amid reported interest from Bayern Munich. German media had speculated that Schalke might be keen on selling the keeper for a good price in view of the club's reported financial problems.
But Magath said nothing had changed since the summer when he had also ruled out any sale of the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who in the summer made his debut for the German national side.
"It was said then that we would have to sell players for financial reasons but that is not the case," Magath said.
He added that player transfers would always be considered if there were good offers "but that won't be the case with Manuel Neuer."
According to German media reports, Schalke have debts of 100 million euros more than the 137 million euros (203.5 million dollars) already admitted.
However Magath said last week there was nothing new in the reports, while club officials have played down concerns the club could even lose its professional playing licence as a result of the debts.
