Geneva - The World Health Organization's group of expert advisers on immunizations started Tuesday their three-day meeting in Geneva. The meeting would focus on all types of vaccine and immunization issues, said spokesman Gregory Hartl. The group would look at the A(H1N1) pandemic on Wednesday.

The first day would see the experts discuss measles and funding for vaccines to the world's poorest countries. Furthermore, general safety and research issues would be discussed, according to a draft version of the group's agenda.

Also Wednesday, the experts would look at cholera and malaria. On the final day, they would discuss polio eradication.

The recommendations of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunizations go directly to the Margaret Chan, the WHO director general, who can then chose to adopt or reject the group's opinions.
