New York, Feb 10 A group of American students, including an Indian American, spent two years raising money to help a young boy from El Salvador who suffered from a rare life threatening heart disease.Nine-year-old Melvin of El Salvador was born with a congenital heart defect and doctors had little hope for his survival. Last week, he travelled from El Salvador to the Children's Hospital in Boston and underwent the much needed heart surgery.It was all thanks to Nehal Patel who along with a group of Boston University students raised funds for the life saving heart surgery.'He was really ill, really blue and pink and weak,' Nehal Patel was quoted as saying by Boston's Channel 7 News channel.'He's amazing,' Patel said. 'He's so much fun to be around. He's so sweet... a great kid.'Boston University Advisor Karen Jacobs said the experience was rewarding for the team. 'It's very meaningful and exciting for all of us,' said Jacobs.
