Berlin - Thousands of cheering fans greeted British singer Robbie Williams at the start of a surprise mini-concert in Berlin on Friday. The 35-year-old star launched into the free performance with his current hit single "Bodies."

He planned to play a total of five songs in the 11,000-capacity Max Schmeling Hall, in Berlin's trendy Prenzlauer Berg district. On Tuesday, the 35-year-old singer launched a comeback in London after a three-year break.

Earlier on Friday he was nominated for next year's Brit Award, Britain's highest industry accolade, for his contribution to music.

Williams has sold more than 50 million albums and forged a successful solo career since leaving boyband Take That.
