New Delhi - A water pipeline crashed down on a moving train in India's western city of Mumbai on Friday, killing one person and injuring 11 other passengers, news reports said. The pipeline fell from an overhead bridge in the city's north-eastern Thane area, the PTI news agency reported.
Some parts of the bridge also fell along with the pipeline and landed on top of one of the train's coaches, forcing it off the tracks.
One person died while three of the 11 wounded were in a critical condition in a nearby hospital, the report said quoting local police.
Television images showed the water gushing out of the pipeline atop the train as firefighters rescued passengers trapped inside.
The pipeline was supported by the bridge above the railway tracks. The accident occurred as work was underway to replace the pipeline with a new one, the NDTV network reported.
All services on the busy suburban route were suspended indefinitely following the accident, railway officials said.
