Vienna - Iran's talks with Russia, France and the United States on enriching nuclear fuel abroad are set to continue for another day in Vienna, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced Tuesday. Formal negotiations were held up until the evening as Iran insisted that France should not be part of the agreement.
At the beginning of the month, Iran had reached a basic understanding with world powers that it would ship enriched uranium out of the country for further enrichment as a confidence-building measure.
The material would be brought back to Tehran to power a medical-use reactor there.
Western diplomats had described the potential deal as an important measure to build confidence in Iran's contentious nuclear programme and to smooth the way for further, wide-ranging talks with the Islamic state.
