Washington - The US condemned Sunday the attack on a unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guards which killed at least 31 people - and rejected Iranian suggestions that Washington had been involved in the attack. State Department Spokesman Ian Kelly said: "We condemn this act of terrorism and mourn the loss of innocent lives. Reports of alleged US involvement are completely false."
An apparent suicide bomber attacked a unit of the elite military regiment in the Sistan-Beluchistan province on Sunday, killing a number of high-ranking officers.
The Revolutionary Guards later issued a statement implying that "the global arrogance" - a thinly veiled reference to the US and Britain - had been behind the attack.
