Mexico City - Tropical Storm Patricia was slowly approaching the Baja California Peninsula on the Mexican Pacific Tuesday, and the authorities called for precautions even though it was not supposed to make landfall. The southern tip of the peninsula was on alert over likely rain and storm swell. According to the Miami-based US National Hurricane Centre, Patricia had windspeeds near 95 kilometres per hour, with higher gusts. It was located some 225 kilometres south-southeast of the resort town of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California. The storm was expected to turn towards the northwest later Tuesday or Wednesday, and was not expected to make landfall at all.
