This is obviously a politically driven panic and Al Gore/Hollywood are the perps! Als' ego is hurt since he is insignificant and desires attention. Ladies and Gentlemen! Comrades!

Climate change is a modern-day equivalent of class struggle. Global Warming is an easily understood, historically inevitable concept in Marxist Science designed to help the Party to crush capitalism and fulfill mankind's utmost desire to redistribute wealth and establish a centralized global government with an army of enlightened bureaucrats running a planned global economy based on world-wide quotas and five-year plans.

In the absence of classical Marxist preconditions for the Revolution - global crisis of capitalism combined with massive poverty and despair - Global Warming stands out as the most convenient, non-denominational replacement thereof. It provides both the means to manipulate the masses - and a moral justification for doing so. As such it replaces the previously promising but failed agitprop tools as "Overpopulation," "Ozone Holes," "Global Famine," and "Ice Age 2." Until the time when it gets replaced by another convenient agitprop tool, Global Warming must remain an unquestionable dogma in all political discussions (you shall be notified of changes, if any, by the NPR, the New York Times, and other progressive media organs.)

The importance of Global Warming for the Revolution is too great to leave it in the hands of scientists. The masses must believe that it is beneficial to have faith in Global Warming whether it can be proven or not. If Global Warming didn't exist it would be necessary to invent it.

My opinion of him had never been too good. He acts like a 5-year-old egocentric child. He thinks he has eaten the wisdom of the world and never accepts anyone else's opinion. But to a certain extend I respected him for his manners and education. After reading this mental diarrhoea he let out in the major Czech newspaper for economy (Hospodarske noviny) I lost the rest of my respect for him. This man has lost his senses and turn into a complete lunatic. I wish he'd never been re-elected a Czech president because what he does harms my country.

Factors to Consider on Global Warming.

I attended the presentation by Mr. Dorn, editor of Backpacker Magazine. He was trained by Mr. Al Gore to share the latest scientific information on global warming, titled "An Inconvenient Truth." I found that about 95% was irrelevant to the claim that Humanity is responsible for the earth's global warming. For the other 5%, I am in disagreement with the premise. One statement by Mr. Dorn caught my attention. He stated that, "It is possible that we cannot stop the ice from melting." If that is so, then how can Humanity be blamed for its CAUSE?

I am not a believer in global warming caused by man. Humans are a minuscule speck on the earth, if you look at the huge mass of the earth, (Volume = 4/3 x Pi x radius cubed = 267.3 billion cubic miles) of rock, water, and a molten core. For billions of years the earth has been subjected to variations of weather and cyclical climate changes. You can find a chart of the climate swings by searching Answers.com and Wikipedia. There is little that Humans can do to upset Nature's balance. Our existence is totally dependent on the heat from the sun, and we are victims of any changes originated by the radiation of the sun. Sun spots and variations in the nuclear activities of the sun have everything to do with our global temperature. It takes enormous amounts of BTU's to make any change to the stability of the earth. Over the centuries there have been variations, which have nothing to do with Man. Only an extreme dust cover, such as could be caused by a really big meteor strike, or by multiple volcanic ash-emitting eruptions, could the earth be affected in a significant temperature change. A large dust umbrella encircling the earth would cause an abrupt freeze-up on the earth. Like Dinosaur extinction? Remember Mt. St. Helen? Man cannot affect or influence these global proportions. Mother Nature is in command, like it or not.

Almost all of the presentation was devoted to the "EFFECTS" attributed to any global warming trend. Disastrous results from Nature-caused actions do not point a finger at Humans for the "CAUSES." If the hurricanes are caused by el-nino' in the Pacific Ocean, then explain how Man caused many hurricanes in 2005, and only a few in 2006. The truth is that the Pacific Ocean has been affected by the sun, and intermittently heated by underwater volcanic eruptions. Our submarines have been plotting and recording the ocean heating effects since WWII. The USS San Francisco SSN-711 rammed into an uncharted underwater volcanic mountain two years ago. Disaster pictures of New Orleans are irrelevant, and have no basis in human cause. The same goes for the Asian tsunami floods, caused by an underwater earthquake. Another false solicitation of our sympathy is the picture of the submarine rising through the arctic ice. The first submarine to surface through the arctic ice was the USS Skate SSN-578 on July 20, 1958. Many other surfacings followed. Who do you think took the picture? In 1962 The USS Seadragon SSN-584 set course from Pearl Harbor, and surfaced alongside the USS Skate, coming from the Atlantic side. Also, the pictures of the polar bears on ice floes have been proven to be a hoax. A mother and her cub were froliking on the ice floe, from the photographer, who took the picture in 2004.

I am a strong believer in reducing the amount of fossil fuels burned; not because of the Global Warming Hoax, but more importantly, because of the economic advantages, and also reducing dependence on foreign oil importation. Air pollution is a growing problem because of the health hazards to us and our children. Plant more trees and vegetation because carbon dioxide is digested and oxygen is expelled. Let's find a way to package
CO-2 and sell it as fertilizer. Use more high efficiency fluorescent lamps, because it saves electricity. Build more clean electricity generating plants. Wind, water, solar, and nuclear driven resources are the final clean air answer. The U.S. has done very well in using electrostatic particle removers and pollutant reducers, compared to the 1920/30's when coal was the main energy source for the industrial revolution. China has been placing more than 100 new coal-fired, unfiltered, electric generating plants on-line each year. In two years, they will become the world's greatest polluters. PBS recently did a special show on China showing the people wearing face masks to filter out the soot and sulfur from their breathing. Their irresponsible airborne pollution always travels west to east to North America. Because of the high sulfur content, the acid rain does damage to all of our outdoor structures and buildings. When is the Presentation scheduled to go to China to tell them to stop? Al Gore just this week in Spain, gave China a pass on their promise to conform to their cleanup activities. Germany has exempted its coal industry from Kyoto agreement requirements. France, by the way, is one of the cleanest countries, because the majority (80%) of their electricity production comes from nuclear powered generators. India and Spain are flagrant violators, burning a lot of coal. Get all the facts from internet research. Do not rush to judgement.

The Wikipedia search engine has a nice chart showing an average Global temperature rise of only 0.2 C. degree temperature rise from 1940 to 2000. There are slight temperature dips in 1950 and 1970, showing the cyclical nature of our global temperature. The charts in the presentation used an old marketing trick to exaggerate the point being made. If you stretch the horizontal "y" axis (time), and narrow the vertical "x" axis, (temperature), then small changes will appear to be more significant. There were no chart source identifications, and computer "projections" were unsubstantiated, with models giving no accountability to the greatest variable, that of clouds and water vapor. Incidentally, weather satellite measurements show no significant climate changes in the life of their existence. Check it out.

The United States and Australia have signed the Kyoto treaty, but have not ratified it. Many of the other countries have made promises, but have made no attempt to do anything. Mr. Clinton and Mr. Bush were in agreement that the treaty would do much harm to our economy, and the Senate rejected the concept. If the carbon dioxide blanket prevents the heat on the earth from escaping into the atmosphere, then how did it manage to penetrate from the sun into the earth in the first place? Now another UN scam comes into play. The "Emissions Trading Scheme" allows low production countries to sell their "Carbon Credits" to other countries to meet their targets of GHG (GreenHouse Gas) allocations. It is too lengthy and complicated to go into here. Do some research in Google.com, Answers.com, Wikipedia.com, etc.

Bottom Line: I disagree with the term used to describe global warming as
"very likely" to be caused by Man. I choose to believe the physicists and meteorologists at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, etc., who have stated that Man's role in Global Warming is "highly unlikely." Now that the temperatures have gone down to MINUS 40 in Minnesota and even lower in Canada and the Arctic Circle, watch the glaciers rapidly freeze back out. Remember that the Antarctic region is now in its summer cycle. I would bet that the people across the upper plains states, in Oswego NY (141 inches of snow in two weeks), and Denver wish they could get some of that global warming right now. The humorous irony is that all of us in attendance shivered making our way back to our cars in the 10 degree temperature, thinking about global warming. It is important to not panic into spending billions of dollars to correct a problem that we did not cause, nor can we control. This transcends politics. It most important that we act on "What is right for America," - - and be sure that it is right.

So if Muqtada Al Sadr suddenly proclaims that global warming is a hoax, are all the skeptics here going to start hailing him as "courageous", and "clear-headed"? Klaus is a corrupt politician from a fledgling post-communist country known for suppressing information. His scientific credentials are non-existent. I'd find a new spokesman.

Global warming is directly related to the sun putting out more energy and is not man caused. The sun is entering a period of increased activity which is warming us up. Nothing we can do about it, we are not causing it, it is just another phase in the hot/cold cycle that has been happening for millions of years.

common sense is not enough. global warming is too complex an issue to be discarded by simply saying "it is natural" or that there were "past ice ages". How cold were such ice ages? What are is the scientific data regarding temperatures and model predictions? those are the questions we should be asking. It's great to once again see such an awesome use of referencing to back up the claims here. Don't worry about the scientific method people! If enough people commenting on a news site say that it does or does not exist they must be right! I just have to laugh. Not a single one of you "experts" has any valid evidence or scientific basis to back up your skeptism. It is all just empty insults, nothing but empty insults.

I am a senior research scientist working in the largest research organization in my country. I have seen the data. Anyone that disputes the fact of global warming has not studied the evidence with an open mind. The link between CO2 levels and atmospheric temperatures is indisputable and based on proven laws of physics. I know many people would prefer it were otherwise but unfortunately the science is undeniable. There is no doubt that the future of civilization hangs in the balance. Action must be taken now. Please take the time to examine the evidence and try not to allow your opinion to be shaped by your political allegiance. We have perhaps 1 or 2 decades left in which to act.

This reminds me of a story in elementary school of how american explorers tricked the indians by saying they could take away their moon. It was in fact an eclipse, A natural phenomenon. I'm not going to say whether global warming is real or not. I don't know. But everyone here whose cynicism towards Gore is prefaced with the phrase, "follow the money." is clearly not actually following the money. According to the assumption that the truth will be discovered when we look to he who will prosper, the oil companies, not Gore, are the ones most interested in conceit. President Vaclav Klaus should be praised for having the courage to speak up against the harangue of global warming pushers. Follow the money and you will find the truth about global warming. I was looking through some old school papers my mother kept, as moms often do, from my days in grade school. I found a plaster map of the US I did in the early 70's that had ice caps down to the middle south as a result of the "new ICE AGE" that was eminent if we did not change our use of fossil fuels. Green house gases were the culprit then too. Hats off to at least one world leader not buying in to the latest war against capitalism. Perhaps we could coin it as the newest "Cold War"!!

I love the way that, when challenged with cogent arguments, our lib friends resort to name-calling. If recognizing that global warming is a complete canard makes me a self-delusional freak, then I will wear that title with pride!

Although I am not a climate scientist, I have a diploma from a graduate school, on a field considered scientific (medicine). I am a practicing physician. All the years (35) I spent as a physician, I was taught over and over, that all the methods we use must have some kind of scientific basis, evidence, proof. That is why since I am following the various environmental issues, global warming among them, I am always looking for the evidence, proof. I have no personal angle in all this, if there is global warming, yes, something should be done, but if there isn't, or if there is, but it is not caused by the people, nothing should be done or can be done. Let's examine a few items related to global warming.

The polar ice is melting, glaciers are vanishing, the heat waves are blamed on global warming. Isn't that proof enough? Well, no. Not when we consider that even the loudest advocates of global warming don't claim a more than 0.6 C degree of global average temperature elevation during the last century. I am asking: how is that possible? No more than high school physics needed to understand that ice melts when temperature goes over 0 C degree. Somebody please explain to me, how can the polar ice melt, unless it happens to be in a narrow belt, where the average temperature is between -0.5 C and +0.1 C degree temperature? Because that is where what used to be ice, can turn into water. Wherever the temperature is -10 C degrees for example, even if there was a 0.6 degrees average elevation, the ice would still remain under the melting point. Now, some would say that the 0.6 C degree elevation is only an average, and it can produce more elevation in certain areas. True, but if that is the case, somewhere else the local average temperature must go down. We never read in articles about the global warming

It is revealing, though not surprising, that an extreme, conspiratorial rant attracts the foaming-at-the-mouth right wing crowd.

The vast majority of respected, peer-reviewed scientific work shows that human activiites are a significant cause (among many) of global warming, and that moderating it would moderate the inevitable near-term warming.

The commentators doubtless feel better after venting their hate. The vast majority of people around the world take a different view about global warming. After the 2008 elections, the U.S. may join other nations in doing something about it.

There was no Human activity then, there were no Industries, no Hummers, no Repbublicans, no Bush. These temperature changes are all about normal fluctuations caused probably by our sun, or factors involving volcanic activity beneath our Oceans. The Czech Pres is right. The global temperature has not risen since 1999. Does anyone tell you that? NO. There has always been a group of people who cannot stand the idea that someone might have a little more than they. They have used various ideas and methods to squash people down for centuries. This is but the latest attempt. People do not realize that this 'craze' is going to lead them into a cage from which there will be no escape. What you do, how often you do it, what way you do it and what you have will all be decreed to you by law in the name of 'global warming." Gradually, but surely.

Finally, a world leader busts Gore for being a fraud --- using global warming and a junk-science movie to run for the US Presidency. Because our orbit around the sun is not constant, due to the gravitational pull of Jupitor, we go through cycles of various distances from the sun. The distance from the sun alone changes over all temperatures on earth. When we have high sun spot activity we get more radiation from the sun which also heats up the planets in our solar system. That is what is going on now with the polar caps of mars. Yes earth is warming up but we are having little to do with it.

The U.N. has evolved into a self-serving group of green-oriented Marxist bureaucrats who seem bent on punishing the developed countries for their success. Everything that is wrong with the Third World is "obviously" the fault of America, etc.

It is so refreshing to see people finally coming out against politically driven feel good science. The scientific process has been short circuited by feel good hippies out to impose their will on the masses by using political correctness and fear mongering. A reasonable debate is necessary to determine whether (should I say 'weather'?) or not humanity should be concerned about global warming. If we don't then future environmentalists will tell us that our actions actually made things worse.... see the previous experts (20 years ago) who suggested that we deliberately release CO2 to offset the coming ice age.

I think we should wait to pass judgement until the complete technical report is issued later this year.

The 2 Feb release was a policy paper that said man-made global warming was more certain. Where is the scientific proof to back this claim up? The IPCC sets up a circular argument for justifying its position.

IPCC has drastically scaled back its predictions from the 2001 report. Anticipated temperature increases and rise in seawater are much lower than previous predictions. From what I understand about global population trends, some of IPCC's worst case scenarios are extremely unlikely.

It is curious that IPCC puts out the policy paper months before releasing the full report. Why can't we see it now?

We all can be sure that the weather and climate is changing every second of every day of every year. Some say carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, some say changes in the Sun's activity, some say cosmic rays that are diffused differently by the Suns pulsating activity, while still others say meteors striking the Earth and volcanic activity alter the Earth's axis and create wobbles.
