Beijing - A Chinese sculptor has created a critical commentary on capitalism in the wake of the global financial crisis in a work that shows a springing, farting bull ramming jailed Wall Street financier Bernard Madoff against a wall with its horns. The work by Chen Wenling entitled How to Escape is on display in the 798 Art District of Beijing.
The muscle-bound bull, symbolizing Wall Street, appears to be rocket-propelled as clouds billow out behind it and it pins Madoff against a wall with cracked plaster and all.
The Fujian-born Chen has been exhibiting his work in China and abroad since 1991.
His latest subject, Madoff, was arrested in December in a 65-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme considered to be the largest fraud ever committed in US financial history. Under the scheme, which operated at least since the 1990s, Madoff's firm paid huge returns to old investors by collecting money from new ones.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 150 years in prison in June.
