Warsaw - Polish President Lech Kaczynski will sign the European Union's Lisbon Treaty on Wednesday, the daily Dziennik reported Tuesday. Kaczynski would do so on his return from Romania on Wednesday night, according to the daily.
Kaczynski's chief of staff had Monday said there was no need to "frantically hurry" in signing the treaty that seeks to reform EU structures.
Kaczynski had previously held off ratification, reportedly in the hope of negotiating a better position for European member of parliament Janusz Lewandowski.
After the "Yes" vote in a second Irish referendum on the weekend, the treaty now has to be ratified by Kaczynski and his counterpart in the Czech Republic in order to come into effect.
Kaczynski had previously pledged to sign the Lisbon Treaty if it was approved by Ireland.
