Hamburg - Werder Bremen climbed into the top four of the German Bundesliga with a comfortable 2-0 win at VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. Claudio Pizarro gave Bremen an early lead when he headed in a Marko Marin cross at the far post in the third minute.
Any hopes Stuttgart had at half-time of levelling were dashed six minutes after the break when Mesut Ozil sliced open the Stuttgart defence with a pass to Aaron Hunt who rifled the ball past Jens Lehmann in goal.
Bremen move fourth on 15 points, five behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, while Stuttgart remain stuck in the lower half of the table.
SV Hamburg could go back to the top if they win by three goals at bottom side Hertha Berlin in the day's later match. Leverkusen enjoyed a 4-0 victory over struggling Nuremberg on Saturday.
