Dresden - Police in Dresden were presented with a 11,700-euro (17,000-dollar) bill on Friday for damage caused to a restaurant during US President Barack Obama's visit in June. The police agreed to an out-of-court settlement with a restaurant they had stormed during the presidential visit, the restaurant's legal team said. Dresden police refused to comment.
Officers had stormed the building, situated in view of Obama's hotel, after sighting suspicious reflections in a window on June 4, the day of the president's arrival.
The police broke open 12 doors and two steel cupboards, damaging walls and ceilings in several rooms, the restaurant's lawyers said.
The restaurant manager said it remained unclear what had caused the reflections, in a statement issued by the lawyers.
Nobody was in the restaurant, which was closed during the presidential visit, the manager added.
