Hamburg - Rubens Barrichello is close to agreeing a deal with the Williams Formula One team for next season in a move that would see the Brawn GP driver swap places with Nico Rosberg, Autosport magazine reported Wednesday. The veteran Brazilian currently lies second in the drivers' standings, 15 points behind teammate Jenson Button with three races remaining, and appears to have decided to extend his career for at least a further year.
According to Autosport, with Rosberg leaving for Brawn, Williams are keen to avail of the 37-year-old Barrichello's vast experience, especially as he is likely to partner rookie Nico Hulkenberg next season.
Barrichello has apparently recently visited the Williams factory at Britain's Grove to discuss the plans for next year, and an outline deal is close to being concluded.
Despite the interest from Williams, Barrichello could still remain with Brawn if championship leader Button fails to agree terms for next season.
