Berlin - Germany announced a grant of 100,000 euros (146,000 dollars) to Samoa Wednesday to provide emergency relief after the South Pacific Ocean tsunami. The funds are to come from the Foreign Ministry. A Berlin spokesman voiced sincere condolences to the victims. From 1900 to 1914, western Samoa was a German colony. The tsunami unleashed by an undersea earthquake caused most deaths in Samoa, with many also killed in the neighbouring country of American Samoa.
