Rome - A sports anti-doping tribunal cleared Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola from drug-use charges in a case that began in 2001 when he was playing in the Italian Serie A with Brescia, the ANSA news agency reported Tuesday. Guardiola, 38, tested positive for nandrolone, a performance-enhancing drug, in November 2001 and was suspended for four months.
He denied doping and appealed the sentence, being cleared in 2007 by the Italian football federation (FIGC).
The prosecuting office of the Italian olympic committee (CONI) reopened the case, but CONI's anti-doping tribunal rejected the appeal.
