Berlin - Archos is rolling out the world's first multimedia player running Google's Android operating system. To date Android has only been used on mobile phones. The device with the name "Archos 5 Internet Tablet" contains a touch display measuring 12 inches on the diagonal. It offers 800 x 400 resolution, the company reports. It can access the internet using an integrated WLAN connection.
The standard unit also includes a GPS receiver for navigation and a Bluetooth port. The Android player is available with 8, 32, and 65 gigabytes (GB) of flash storage. A hard drive model is also available in 160 and 500 GB versions. Prices run from 230 to 400 dollars.
