Munich - A Nigerian man is in detention after being caught trying to smuggle 65 plastic bags of cocaine concealed inside his stomach into Germany, customs officials said Friday. Customs officers became suspicious of the 27-year-old's nervous behaviour after he arrived in Munich on a flight from South Africa on Wednesday.

During questioning, he admitted hiding the drugs internally and was taken to hospital where X-rays of his stomach showed 65 plastic bags, each containing 15 grams of cocaine.

"The amount of cocaine he swallowed was as big as a loaf of bread," said Customs Department spokesman Martin Brandlhuber.

The man later passed the drugs naturally.
