Hamburg - Daniel van Buyten scored twice as Bayern Munich routed second division Rot-Weiss Oberhausen 5-0 on Tuesday for a place in third round of the German Cup. Philipp Lahm opened the scoring with a deflected effort in the 32nd minute and Mario Gomez headed home eight minutes later.

Van Buyten nodded the third in the 67th, Thomas Mueller was on target in the 70th two minutes after coming on, and van Buyten wrapped up matters in the 86th, with another header for his fourth goal in eight days.

"We moved the ball around fast and realized that some of them (Oberhausen) were tiring after 25 minutes. We then got our chances and scored," said van Buyten.

Coach Louis van Gaal rested several stars, but Italian forward Luca Toni played for the first time this season in the second half in a return from injury.

The visitors had the upper end in the day's two Bundesliga duels.

Schalke 04 cruised 3-0 at VfL Bochum from Heiko Westermann's header, Halil Altintop's tap-in and an own goal by Christian Fuchs, spoiling the debut of Bochum caretaker coach Frank Heinemann two days after the sacking of Marcel Koller.

"It is our aim to get (the final in) Berlin, nothing else counts," said Schalke coach Felix Magath.

Per Nilsson nodded the 1-0 winner in the 35th minute for TSG Hoffenheim at Nuremberg.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund were untroubled at second division SC Karlsruhe, with Lucas Barrios getting a brace after Mohamed Zidan's opener for a 3-0 victory.

Borussia Moenchengladbach were ambushed 1-0 by second division Duisburg from an injury-time stunner by Kristoffer Andersen and coach Mario Basler's fourth division Eintracht Trier upset division two side Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 in extra time from 2-0 down.

The two second division duels also required 30 additional minutes, with Greuther Fuerth beating hosts Rot Weiss Ahlen 3-2 in the 120th minute and TuS Koblenz 4-2 winners against Energie Cottbus.

The other eight second-round matches are Wednesday, with holders Werder Bremen hosting second division St Pauli Hamburg. The third round is drawn on Saturday and played October 27/28.
