Moscow - The composer Leonid Desyatnikov has been appointed director of Moscow's historic Bolshoi Theatre, news agency Interfax reported Tuesday. The appointment comes two months after the conductor Alexander Vedernikov resigned the post. The theatre's Director General Anatoly Iksanov said he was looking forward to working with 53-year-old Desyatnikov, who became famous in 2005 with the opera "Rosenthal's Children". The world famous theatre is currently being renovated. It was originally intended to re-open in 2008, but after numerous problems it has now been pushed back to autumn 2009.
