Mexico City - An armed man killed two people in the Mexico City subway and wounded five others on Friday. The attacker opened fire in the full train, and an on-duty police officer and a passenger were killed in what police called the first such attack in the subway system.

Witnesses said the man entered the car with an accomplice and both men yelled anti-government slogans and said the attack was being carried out in the name of God. One man then pulled a gun and began to shoot.

El Universal newspaper reported one person had been arrested in the attack.

A motive remained unclear.
