Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II and Queen Rania will visit Syria on Tuesday upon an invitation from President Bashar al-Assad and his wife, Asmaa, the royal court announced Monday. Abdullah and al-Assad are expected to conduct talks on regional issues, foremost the latest US-led efforts to ensure a resumption of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, officials said.
The two Arab leaders will also look into means for boosting bilateral ties, which appeared to have cooled at certain junctures due to the different attitudes Jordan and Syria adopted on regional questions, the latest of which was the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip in January, they added.
