Madrid - Bolivian President Evo Morales made an embarrassing slip on beginning his official visit to Spain on Monday, calling the Spanish monarchy a republic. Speaking at an economic forum, Morales said he had dined on Sunday with Miguel Angel Moratinos, "foreign minister of the republic of Spain." Morales made the slip just a few hours before he was scheduled to meet King Juan Carlos. Morales' slip reminded Spaniards of former Florida governor Jeb Bush, brother of former US president George W Bush, who also called Spain a republic during a 2003 visit.
