Fast compact flash cards from ExtrememoryBerlin - Hardware maker Extrememory is now offering new compact flash storage cards in the 300x speed class. The new cards can read data at up to 52 megabytes per second (MB/s). Writing is performed at up to 24 MB/s. They also support the UDMA protocol that allows for quicker card access by PCs. The Extrememory CF Performance 300x with 8 Gigabytes (GB) of storage space costs just under 40 dollars, while the 16 GB version has a price tag of 70 dollars. The 32 GB card is available for around 130 dollars.
Surge protector with remote control
Munich - Belkin is now offering a new power strip with surge protection that can be controlled via remote control. The Conserve Surge Protector BG108000cb2M has eight plugs. Six of them can be switched on and off by remote control, the manufacturer notes. Switching off the plugs prevents the devices connected to them from drawing power while in standby mode. The strip costs 50 dollars.
Canon presents the EOS 7D
Hamburg - The newest digital SLR camera from Canon is called the EOS 7D. The model closes the gap between the 50D and 5D Mark II, Canon reports. The EOS 7D boasts 18 megapixels of resolution and shoots 8 images per second. The camera shoot a burst of 126 jpeg photos or 15 shots in RAW format. Photos are stored on a compact flash card. The unit is rounded out by a 3 inch display. It is expected to appear in stores in October for around 1,650 dollars.
