Baghdad - Three civilians were killed and eight injured in a bomb attack near the Ministry of Health in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Saturday, according to security sources. An Iraqi police source told the Aswat al-Iraq news agency that the explosion was caused by two explosive devices.
"The first device went off in the courtyard of Othman al-Amri Mosque, while the second device exploded in a nearby garage while worshippers were fleeing the place," the source said.
Last month, around 100 people were killed and around 1,200 injured in a series of coordinated bomb attacks targeted government buildings in the city, including those housing the foreign and finance ministries.
In another incident, security forces Saturday defused an explosive device found inside the shrine of Imam Moussa al-Kadhim in Baghdad, the Iraqi minister of interior said.
"The device, which was in the form of a religious book, was safely defused by the security forces," al-Iraqiya TV channel quoted the minister as saying.
