Prague - A Polish miner died and three Czech workers were injured by a tremor at a coal mine in the Czech Republic, the mining company said Friday. A seismic jolt - possibly the result of other mine works - was recorded late Thursday in the north east of the country, hitting a mine owned by OKD, the country's biggest mining companies.
The causes of the jolt was not immediately known but is suspected to be man made. An investigation is underway.
The dead miner, aged 24, was the third victim in OKD's mines this year, spokeswoman Zuzana Kolarikova said.
OKD operates coal mines in north-eastern Czech Republic. Its owner New World Resources NV listed its shares on Prague, Warsaw and London stock exchanges in 2008.
