Los Angeles - Jennifer Aniston is to take on one of her first singing roles since acting school, she revealed in an interview with People magazine. The former star of Friends said she will star in The Goree Girls, a film about a real-life 1940s country-music group formed by female prison inmates.
"It won't be bad," said the 40-year-old actress. "I can carry a tune."
She considered herself lucky that the original singers in the band didn't sound that great.
"Here's the good news. The band: they weren't musicians. They basically created a band in prison in order to get paroled. So you are dealing with new singing voices and new instrument playing, and somehow they find a way and become a huge phenomenon. It's a true story."

Courtney Love demands Guitar Hero recall over "odious" Cobain image
Los Angeles - Courtney Love urged the recall of the newly released Guitar Hero 5 video game Thursday over what she said was an "odious" portrayal of her former husband, the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
"I think Kurt would despise this game alone, let alone this avatar," she said in a series of postings on her Twitter account. "I have nothing to do with Guitar Hero. I loathe it and find it odious."
Love denied ever approving Cobain's inclusion in the game, a claim denied by game-maker Activision.
"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate, in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love, to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5," the company said in a statement.

Seinfelds beat plagiarism rap
New York - A New York judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit that accused actor Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica, of plagiarizing some of the content of her best-selling cookbook.
The lawsuit accused Jerry Seinfeld of defamation for denying the allegations on national television.
Cookbook author Missy Chase Lapine claimed last year that Jessica Seinfeld's book, Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Getting Your Kids Eating Good Food, was a copy of her earlier tome The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids' Favourite Meals.
In a ruling Thursday, US District Judge Laura Swain dismissed the claims.
"Many of the alleged similarities are shared by cookbooks as a whole, and the genre of cookbooks addressing encouraging healthy eating in children," she said.
In an further blow to the plaintiff, Swain noted that Lapine's book was filled with "dry, rather text-heavy work," whereas Jessica Seinfeld's was "bright and cheerful, full of different colors."
