Hamburg - There's one thing all the food pictured at a particular US-based blog have in common: They are the kind of food that makes people fat. The blog thisiswhyyourefat.com is aptly named. And the photos there are very intriguing and even a bit sickening. Click on the blog to find such sweet, salty and fatty creations as the Fool's Gold Stack, comprising about a dozen pancakes with peanut butter and bacon layered between each pancake and topped with maple syrup.

Other photos show foods whose creator appeared to know their dangers, such as the Double Bypass Burger, a hamburger topped with five slices of bacon, four slices of cheese, two fried eggs, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and onion between two grilled cheese sandwiches.

Then there are some that aren't nearly as grotesque, however, their descriptions don't do them justice. Only by seeing the photo do they make any sense. The Ol' Brown Eye is an example. It is a chocolate-frosted doughnut.

Users can not only see the typically brightly coloured, fat-laden food concoctions on the blog, they also can submit a photo of a particularly high calorie meal, sandwich or dish. The online community can then have a look at a food that is contributing to the high obesity rate in the US.

Looking at pictures of the food, most of which would have more than a day's worth of calories, can't hurt. But anyone who gets hungry looking at the photos should consider the motto of the website: "Where dreams become heart attacks."
