Frankfurt - Lufthansa Group reported a decline in passengers in August, saying Wednesday its planes flew 77.6-per-cent full, a fall of 1.8 points compared to a year ago. Its air-cargo units also suffered drops, with 57.7 per cent of available freight capacity sold in the month, down by 6.2 points from a year before. The Frankfurt-based aviation conglomerate noted it had offered 7.7 per cent less cargo space this year. The group includes the Lufthansa airline and its regional subsidiaries, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Italia, Swiss and British Midland. The data did not include airlines in which Lufthansa owns less than half the shares.
