Hamburg - Torsten Frings must prove his class if he wants to return into the national team while Jerome Boateng will be the next youngster to be invited, German coach Joachim Loew said. Loew told Wednesday's edition of the Sport Bild weekly that the SV Hamburg defender Boateng will get his first call-up before the end of the year because "it is our duty to bring him closer to the national team."
Boateng, 21, would be the next under-21 European champion to make the team, following Mesut Ozil, Marko Marin, Sami Khedira, Andreas Beck and Manuel Neuer.
The former regular starter Frings has not been picked by Loew this year, but the coach said the Werder Bremen midfielder is not dropped for good in the final countdown to the 2010 World Cup.
"Frings is an ambitious player. He still has a chance," said Loew of the 32-year-old veteran Frings.
