Xativa, Spain - Slovenian Vacansoleil rider Borut Bozic on Friday won the sixth stage of the Tour of Spain, outsprinting Tyler Farrar and Daniele Bennati in a mass-sprint at the finish. German Columbia rider Andre Griepel keeps the golden jersey of the overall Vuelta leader with 24 hours 21.13 minutes after finishing in the chasing pack. He is six seconds ahead of Belgian Tom Boonen.
Bennati and Farrar are a further three seconds behind after the 177-kilometre stage that started and ended in Xativa.
A four-man breakaway team consisting of Jose Antonio Lopez Gil, Matheus Pronk, Bingen Fernandez and Aitor Perez got away from the peloton soon after the start and managed to gain a six minute lead at times.
They were caught with some 17 kilometres to go, resulting in the sprint finish.
Saturday sees the riders complete a 30-kilometre time trial in Valencia.
