New York - Even Andy Roddick admits amazement that none of the top men's seeds at the US Open had dropped a set as the opening week heads into the holiday weekend. The number five did his part in the second round, slamming Frenchman Marc Gicquel 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 and facing just one break point in the later stages.

Roddick now owns the most wins ever on the massive Arthur Ashe showcase arena, 17.

As for the performance so far of himself and his delete colleagues, the American is stunned: "That's shocking, that's shocking.

"Not even a set?Not a quick little break at 11 am out on Grandstand? That's pretty surprising."

The 2003 tournament winner and three-time Wimbledon finalist is fully confident of keeping up the run of form. "I feel like I'm hitting it well.

"I have pretty good ball control right now. I think I'm picking the right shots to go for. I'm making a lot of my returns and I'm in every one of their (opponent's) service games."

NOTEBOOK: Reports: Djokovic could rest during World Group playoff date =

New York - Reports from Serbia suggest that local tennis hero Novak Djokovic might pass on his country's September 18-20 World Group playoff with Uzbekistan, confident that his compatriots can get the job done on court without him.

That decision would surely disappoint the 20,000 fans expected to front up for the event in a country which only got its first ATP event last may due to financial efforts from the family of the world No. 4.

So far, Djokovic is concentrating on his form at the US Open, wherehe lost the 2007 final to Roger Federer. "Physically I feel great. I feel ready, I feel confident on the court," he said.

"I'm mentally motivated and willing to do more. I have a big desire to perform good and to win the matches. I always try to push myself always to the limit, sometimes I'm perfectionist.

Reports hint that Djokovic might not consider the tie enough of a challenge for Serbia, which also boasts No. 31 Viktor Troicki at 31 and 64th-ranked Janko Tipsarevic on side for singles. That's in addition to Nenad Zimonjic in doubles.

Uzbekistan has never reached the World Group and come to Serbia as definite underdogs.
