Athens - A 25-year-old Albanian national suffering from chronic heart problems died on Thursday after contracting the A(H1N1) virus, or swine flu. It was Greece's second confirmed case, the Health Ministry said. The young man, admitted to an intensive care unit at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens, was reported to be suffering from chronic heart problems and died while in the intensive care unit.

In August, Greece confirmed its first death after a 23-year-old man admitted to an intensive care unit at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, had reportedly contracted the flu while he was hospitalized.

There are approximately 2,000 cases of people contracting swine flu in Greece, the majority of them tourists.

Greece is the first country planning to launch a nationwide vaccination campaign of every citizen in the country against swine flu. The programme is to start in October.
