Rome - AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is to be sidelined for about two weeks with a sprained ankle that makes him unavailable also for two World Cup qualifiers Italy play in early September, Italian media reported Sunday. The 31-year-old hurt his left ankle late Saturday during a city derby his side lost 4-0 to Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Gattuso was dismissed late in the first half after receiving a second yellow card with his side two goals down.
The 2006 world champion is to miss the games Italy play at Georgia and at home to Bulgaria on September 5 and 9.
