Frankfurt - The German football federation DFB is to take no action against Stuttgart goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic over an incident in which they appeared to elbow each other. The federation's control panel had investigated the players for serious unsporting behaviour in the Bundesliga match last Saturday which finished 1-1.
But the DFB said after examining television pictures and taking new statements from the referee and both players it would not pursue the investigation.
The panel came to the conclusion that the referee saw the incident and acted on it at the time by awarding Stuttgart a free-kick. There were thus no grounds for retrospective action.
Despite the decision Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc said Subotic would be fined by the club. He did not disclose the extent of the fine.
