Prague - Former Czech prime minister Mirek Topolanek was struck and injured slightly by a rock while at an election campaign event in the town of Hustopece on Friday, local media reported. According to the CTK news agency, four young men first abused the head of the conservative Citizens Party (ODS) verbally and then struck him with a stone before fleeing in a car.
Topolanek, who was travelling without a bodyguard, suffered a wound above his right eye, but would be able to continue the campaign, an ODS spokesman was quoted as saying.
Parliamentary elections are to take place in the Czech Republic on October 9 and 10.
