Hannover - A German cat survived by a whisker after bedding down in a washing machine for the night, police in Hannover reported Friday. The pet, called Zoro, climbed into the drum of the washing machine on Thursday night, before the family's sons, aged three and four, started the 90-degree wash cycle which uses near-boiling water to tackle stubborn stains.
The 21-year-old mother was alerted by loud noises emanating from the machine, and discovered the family cat, thoroughly cleaned but thankfully alive, as the water had only reached 30 degrees.
The Hannover fire brigade took Zoro to a veterinarian clinic, where he spent the morning recovering from his ordeal.
