WASHINGTON, Feb. 6 The White House should allocate more funds to developing solar energy, an industry group said.It is important that Congress recognize the vital contributions that these technologies can make to our energy security, by providing funding for concentrating solar power and solar heating / lighting programs at $25 million and $15 million, respectively, the Solar Energy Industries Association President Rhone Resch said. On Monday, the Bush administration unveiled its national budget proposal for 2008, and allocated $2 million for solar water heating research and $9 million for overall solar power research.Resch also argued that solar investment tax credits, which is the single most important policy affecting solar development, was not incorporated into the budget plan, and proposed that the tax credit be extended another eight years.
