Phnom Penh - A Cambodian court Thursday sentenced a Japanese man to six years in prison for taking pornographic photographs of a group of young boys while on holiday in the coastal resort town of Sihanoukville. Provincial judge Bou Bunhang said Shunichi Nakagawa, 33, was found guilty of taking nude photographs of six boys aged between 12 and 14 in August.
Nakagawa paid the boys about 7 US dollars each to be photographed, the judge said.
"He was arrested the day after he took the photos," he said. "This was the man's first visit to Cambodia."
Bou Bunhang said he did not know whether Nakagawa would appeal the sentence.
Cambodia has launched a crackdown on child sex offences in recent years and dozens of foreigners have received lengthy prison sentences for paedophilia and child pornography-related crimes.
