L'Aquila, Italy - The leaders of the world's biggest polluting nations said Thursday they had agreed to limit global warming to within 2 degrees centigrade to prevent catastrophic climate change. Developed and developing nations "for the first time acknowledged the significance of the 2 degrees," US President Barack Obama said.

The landmark deal was approved in the central Italian city of L'Aquila by the heads of state and government of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United States, Brazil, China, India, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Indonesia and South Korea.
