Frankfurt - Luxury German carmaker Mercedes-Benz signalled plans Wednesday to boost production of smaller cars. "We have to play a bigger role in the price range between 15,000 euros (21,000 dollars) and 25,000 euros," Mercedes products chief Rainer Schmueckle told Germany's daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He said that Mercedes, which forms part of the Daimler vehicle group, was already working on four possible small car models. Mercedes also currently produces the compact urban Smart car.
