Munich - Australian designer Idries Noah has provided sketches of a possible BMW rival to the Audi R8 super sports car fitted ideally with a 550 hp V10 motor. Noah, who was a member of the GM Holden design team in Australia, shows aconcept car with wide front snout that gives the appearance of sucking up the tarmac ahead. The BMW kidney-shaped grille protrudes slightly forward.

A glass roof stretches all the way to the rear. A rear wing is virtually integrated into the body lines with narrow taillights on either side and the BMW logo right in the centre.

Noah says he has taken inspiration from nature, "especially water and the way it flows and ripples." The vehicle flanks come from the surfing terms "a Barrel or Tube" where the wave is hollow when it breaks.

So far the sketches are nothing but an idea. Noah is not linked to BMW in any way.

"I grew impatient waiting for BMW to bring out an R8 rival, so I decided to design my own version of it," he says.
