Berlin- Germany welcomed Monday the US-Russian agreement in Moscow that there must be a follow-up treaty to the START disarmament pact. In a statement issued by his office in Berlin, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said, "Today there is a shared will to advance disarmament." He called for future disarmament to embrace "sub-strategic" nuclear weapons. Steinmeier was in Jerusalem Monday meeting with Israeli leaders. "This joint commitment is also a signal radiating out to North Korea and Iran," he added. "It means that security is not based on acquiring more arms."
