Jakarta - At least 11 people were killed and 15 others injured when a passenger train slammed into an overloaded minibus in Indonesia's central Java province on Sunday. A Prambanan Express train hit a minibus packed with around 35 people on board at a railway crossing without barrier in Central Java district of Klaten, about 500 kilometres south-east of Jakarta, officials said.

Railway officials blamed the bus driver's carelessness in trying to cross the rail while the train was approaching.

Witnesses said the minibus was stuck on the railway track after two of its tyres were flattened because carrying too many passengers.

Eleven people were killed on the spot and 15 others including a deputy train conductor were injured, several of them in serious condition, reported detik.com online news portal.
